“tea for E|D” is a tea party fundraiser for the Health Sciences Centre Adult Eating Disorders Program in Winnipeg. It began as a school project, my Independent Professional Project – a project we work on individually in our final year of Creative Communications.
As event organizer I was responsible for the concept, writing to and targeting sponsors, media relations, developing strategic business partnerships, marketing the event and selling tickets, collecting prize donations, the decor, menu, entertainment, and event set-up.
On Sunday February 10, 2013 we welcomed 450 guests to the Fort Garry Hotel’s Grand Ballroom for an afternoon tea party. The event generated nearly $30,000 in sponsorships and in-kind donations, and we raised over $11,000 on our silent auction and raffle prizes which included a grand prize trip for two anywhere WestJet travels. On Thursday February 14, 2013, during the CJOB/HSC Bringing Hope to Life Radiothon we announced that we raised $33,000 for the program and to date we have raised nearly $38,000.
